Dear Laputa Users:

Thank you for your support all the time. Now we have a good news to share with you: after a long time’s effort, we have completed the development of Laputa v1.3.4. We sincerely invite you to help us test this new version.

The main work we have done for the new version is restructuring the internal code of Laputa, so now Laputa is much more stable than ever before. Besides that, we also supported two more content providers in this new version — Smashwords & Shucang. Next step, Laputa will try to support multi-languages, currently, Chinese user interface has been added.

  1. I installed the new file and now I have 2 Laputa.

The old one is listed as 3.0.6 and this one is 1.3.4

I was wondering if the “Preview” version will eventually be merged to the 3.0.6 (.7) version or if I should delete 3.0.6 and will auto update when it’s not a “preview” version anymore.

  2. Laputa pro is a good product.
    2 lacks for me :
    - multi-languages
    - select a word in a page to copy it, in order to search in a dictionnary
(I read ebooks in French, English and Spanish) ; it would be easy with a task switcher like Visual Tasks.

  3. Hi, I shall try this version this evening.
Hopefully it will read my epubs on my Flytouch2 tablet (this is not possible with the current version)

  4. I just added your blog site to my blogroll, I pray you would give some thought to doing the same.

  5. Hi. Can you tell me if this app works on the 1.5 v of android?

  6. It is really user-friendly!Especially the new version!

    • Laputa Support

Thank you for your comment on the basis of your using experience!Yes,Laputa is really a user-friendly app.It is easy to operate, especially the improved version!

  7. Our discussion section, in the Renaissance works of art. This is a general period of time living in the elegant painting. Paintings in the characters do what they like the lifestyle and pre-painting the window.

  8. I love this app! best look and feel of any ereader for android hands down. I just wish it worked with Calibre like Aldiko does.

Thank you guys for all the hard work!

    • Laputa Support

We are always doing our best to provide you a best Laputa!

    • I know what you mean Bill.

I’m currently in the process of reviewing a reader app for my Android devices and have it down to Aldiko and Laputa. I’m not a fan of running multiple products that do the same task.

The Laputa interface as a general rule is significantly better, but without the ability to easily connect to my Calibre library it can be cumbersome transferring books.

      Quite a shame really.

Is Laputa looking at adding Calibre support?

  9. Need to subscribe to this blog, great job. It inhabits soldiers.

  10. Ho Ho HO, merry Christmas day to all the bloggers and wishing you a blissful new 2011. I really hope santa brought you many presents. Good luck blogging looking forwards to seeing some more good reports. Best wishes to you

  11. Incredible app. I think you guys should show a comparison between the free version and paid version for Android. I’m sure I’d be willing to pay for it but I’d like to know the difference. Thanks for the hard work. (also, the book covers don’t seem to show up for imported epubs)

    • Laputa Support

We appreciate your support so much! You may check the app again for the cover problem! the difference between the free version and paid version is that the paid version support more format and have more can better use it!

  12. I tested the new version on my tablet but unfortunately, is does work!
The program opens but as soon as I open an epub file I get an error message.

  13. I tested the new version on my tablet but unfortunately, is does not work! The program opens but as soon as I open an epub file I get an error message.

    • Laputa Support

Sorry for that problem!can you tell us the name of epub book that causes the problem?By the way, what is the type of your smart phone?thanks for your reply!

      • It’s not a smartphone but an android tablet. It’s a flytouch2 with android 2.1.
Till now all books I have tried crashed.
Also the free books which can be downloaded with Laputa.
I just send a crash report by email.
Maybe that will help you to solve my problem.
In any case, it’s a great program !!!

Thanks so much for the suggestions. We’ll improve in the future!

  58. Hi, just wanted to say I love the way the pages turn! I don’t know of any other eReader that has that featur. I’ve never had a Kindle or a Nook, though I do have the Kindle app on my phone, but I’ve never put books in it, mostly because I get them through Laputa, or sometimes Aldiko. That may change though, now that you have smashwords available;) Although Aldiko still has allromanceEbooks, so I *might* still use them on occasion, but if you could get them too, I would be tickled pink! (and have more free space on my phone- for a little bit!) They just did an update and can’t say that I am thrilled about it, but everyone else seems to enjoy it.

I do have one question, and one (sort-of) complaint. I will start with the question, I guess. I was asked when opening Laputa awhile back (not exactly sure when), if I wanted to update, so I picked yes, & it downloaded fine. Just a few minutes ago though, I was looking through my apps, and noticed that I have 2 versions of Laputa installed. One includes the 2 new catalogs, and says it is version 7, the other one doesn’t have the 2 new catalogs, and says it is version 28. That’s where my question comes in. Shouldn’t the “newest & better” version be higher in number than the previous? I guess I am just confused because in the Android Market, when I view my apps, I only have one Laputa- the one with the 2 new catalogs, where as on my phone, in settings, under applications, it shows, as I said, the prior Laputa, which my phone lists as version 28, and the updated Laputa, which it lists as version 7. Since adding 2 new catalogs is an update, why do I have 2 versions? I know you’re not smartphone techs, just wondering if maybe you had come across this issue before, and maybe know what the deal is?

My (sort-of) complaint is the catalog Avayewn has some complete series sets, and other series are missing a few books. In fact, several series have a greater percentage NOT there, than they do percentage of books that ARE there! An example of that would be Laurell K Hamilton’s books- both her “Anita Blake” and her “Merry Gentry” series have books missing, but the “Merry Gentry” series have more missing (they have 3 out of 9) than the “Anita Blake” series does (last I checked, I believe they had 13 out of 18 or 19 books- there are so many in this series I lost count!) I know you just provide the catalogs for us, because I actually contacted you guys about this, because I thought you guys provided the content, not just.the access. I guess what I am trying to say, is there a way you could contact Avayewn, and ask them about the missing books, and maybe adding some more of the popular, main-stream, well known authors? Like Dean Koontz, Anne McCaffrey & Mercedes Lackey? Can you perhaps get another catalog to go along with them, that has the missing books, as well as more authors, like Kim Harrison, and others? I guess my main thing is somehow to get the missing books, because it is SUCH a pain in the ….um, neck, yeah that’s it(!), when you get done with one book, to find the next one is missing, and you have to go to the library & check it out. Not that I have anything against libraries, I love ‘em, in fact when I was a kid, I wanted to “grow up & be a librarian, so I could live in the library, just like all librarians did!” I was very disappointed to learn that I couldn’t live in the library, even if I did become a librarian, that I cried for days! Okay- back to the point, (I digress ALOT), the reason it’s a pain to have to do that, is what if you’re at the doctor’s office, or someplace like that, & you finish one book, go to find the next one…but it’s NOT there!

I just wanted to take one last time to tell you that I think Laputa is THE best free eReader available in the Android Market today! I reccommend Laputa to everyone I know who has an Android phone and sometimes even to people who have “those other” smartphones, even though I have no idea if Laputa is an Android platform or not! I just know you are the best free eReader app out there! Oh I have one more question- what is the difference between the paid version & the free version? Most times it is simply add free, but sometimes, like with eReaders, it can be almost anyting- more fonts, to just more options. I just want to know for sure before I buy it.

    Thank you
